In this light, one school of thought argues that Emily Brontë conceived Heathcliff as a non-white character. Such a representation will not easily be found amid the artefacts and merchandise associated with the novel and the aim for this work was to explore the possibility of a presenting an alternative view of the novel’s central relationship.
