DescriptionThis access herb and salad cloche planter has been designed to provide an efficient growing area for raising your own herbs and salad crops. The cloche comes with its own timber base which provides sufficient space for healthy root growth and makes it easy for you to place the cloche on a patio or other hard surface if required. By protecting your crops from the great British weather this cloche enables you to produce earlier crops – and if the right varieties are chosen you could grow all year round! The cloche has a strong aluminium frame and can be purchased will a plain, mill finish or with an Antique Ivory powder-coated finish (as shown in the photographs). The cloche is glazed with 4mm toughened safety glass. Toughened safety glass has the benefits of being up to 10 times stronger than horticultural glass, so it won’t blow out in the wind and won’t cave in with snow. And if toughened glass does get broken it shatters into tiny pieces for safety. Gentle convection ventilation is provided by the slight gap between the side panels of the cloche and the roof, venting warm air out of the cloche. For access for watering and cropping the two top glass panels lift out. In the summer this enables you to leave the glass sides in place and the roof panels removed to create a sun trap whilst allowing rain to water your crops. For easy cleaning, each pane can be removed, cleaned and replaced. The two-tier Wooden Base is made from sustainably sourced tantalised timber. It is ideal for growing salad crops and herbs and can be used with the Cloche in place or the base and cloche can be used independently.
